Social Mission
We strive to be a vibrant, prayerful, relevant, and uplifting community whose Life in Christ spills over into loving service in the neighborhood. We have a history of social concern, citizen’s action, and work for grass roots social justice.
The St Matthew’s community is always ready to discuss and engage in support of local authority and charitable efforts to address the complex needs and distress of those who gather around the walls of our building and are often visible in our wider community. Social Action
The St Matthews community hears the call to love God and neighbour as we love ourselves. Flowing from the life of our worshipping community is our support for action to meet human need. We donate to our local food bank, give to charities, host night shelters – through the Robes project, and have joined campaigns for greater justice in wider society.
In a time of climate mutation, along with many others religious or not, we hear ‘the cry of the earth and the poor’ and look for ways to respond locally to challenges that face us all. See our environment group.
